#34- Made a List of Requirements For My Future Spouse

I think it is important that we have a picture of what we want our future spouse to be like. They aren’t going to be perfect but if we know what we want them to be like we won’t settle with the first thing the world throws at us. We will only settle with God’s best for our lives and marriges. So here is the challenge. Make a list of requirements for your future husband/wife. Examples of requirements include: being a Christian, having a strong prayer life, comitted to no divorce, being a wise steward of what they are given and more. Then make a list of wants, things that are not necessarily needed but would be good to have. Examples include: coming from a Christian home, being bilingual, plays an instrument, has some of the same interests. My sister and I made a list as well as our Dad and Mom. You can then compare lists. Also, try to work on your list yourself so you can be that sort of person too.
We got the idea for the lists from the book: “Before You Meet Prince Charming” by Sarah Mally.

Thank you!

#33- Took Steps At Abortion Clinic

So I have not been keeping up with my hard things as much as I would like. Sorry! But yesterday I did a couple hard things while at the abortion clinic (hard thing #2) with my family. I talked for the first time with a mother going in. I was standing by the driveway trying to hand out booklets when someone actually rolled down the window. My mom was right there and together we talked to her. She ended up going in and getting an abortion but it was cool to see how God can use your holding up a booklet to open a conversation.

Simple!

image

Sometimes simple is best. Life can get crazy and we just need to simplify. Sometimes we just need to braid our hair instead of taking hours to curl it and get it just right. Sometimes we need a quiet walk instead of sighing our way through rush hour. Sometimes we need to live in a small cabin instead of a big mansion. Sometimes we need books and not high tech computers. Sometimes we need to go back to the old days. Where things were natural. Simple. My heart longs for simple.

“Simplicity is an exact medium between too little and too much.”

Sir Joshua Reynolds

Have a great and simple day!

An Ode to Hands

image

Hands are awesome. I don’t think we give them enough credit. I mean without hands we wouldn’t be able to do a lot.

A craftsmen wouldn’t be able to craft things.

A musician wouldn’t be able to play music.

A writer wouldn’t be able to write.

Without hands, we wouldn’t have beautiful art, stunning music or captivating books.

Think of how much there wouldn’t be in this world without hands.

As a woodworker, gardener, pianist and avid reader, I am very happy there are hands in this world.

So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

Psalms 63:4

With hands we worship God and serve Him. Isn’t that the most important thing?

Praise God for hands!

DIY Project: Seedlings

Spring is just around the corner so as well as taking care of baby chicks and welcoming my friends baby goats to the world I am also growing some “baby” plants. Yes! Seedlings! Doing seedlings are much less expensive than buying plants in the summer and more fun too in my opinion. Here are some easy steps to planting your own seedlings.

The things you will need.

First, seeds! We got these from the hardware store downtown for about $2.00 a packet. We planted jalepeno peppers and lettuce so that is all I have pictured but we have many more seeds too! These seeds are also non GMO! That means that they are NOT genetically modified! Yeah for that!

Next, containers! These are little seedling containers we got free from someone on Craigslist a couple years back. We have a ton of them! The seedlings will be transplanted into bigger pots later.

image

The soil we got at Lowes for about $4.00 a pack. It is made especially for planting seedlings.

image

Lastly, we got a spray bottle of water to water our seedlings. You could find a spray bottle at a dollar store I assume.

image

We put the containers filled with soil on a tray next to the window and put the seeds in. Then we watered them.

And labeled them…

I then put plastic wrap over and put it on top of the fridge (for the warmth) until it germinates. The seeds are supposed to germinate in about 2 weeks.

I am keeping track of seedlings on my calendar. Just follow the directions on the back of the seeds. Our frost date that I am going by is April 10th, most of the seeds are to be planted about 2-3 weeks before the frost date. Jalepeno and lettuce are to be planted earlier. If you do lots of seedlings make sure you keep a calendar.

Quick recap of what you need! Blessings on your planting!

I will post an update of my plants later…. Thanks to my little brother William for helping with the pictures. 😉 And getting pictures taken of him too… 🙂

Enjoy getting in the dirt! (I know I will)
